Puppy Part Two – Advancing Skills & Preparing for Adolescence The second part of our puppy course is designed to help you and your dog navigate the challenges of adolescence while progressing toward more advanced training. Building on the foundations from Puppy Part One, this course introduces new skills and strengthens existing ones, ensuring your puppy continues to develop good manners, focus, and confidence. What You & Your Puppy Will Learn: 🐾 Strengthen "Sit" & "Down" with added distractions 🐾 Introduce & reinforce "Stay" commands 🐾 Play retrieve and happily give up the toy 🐾 Improve lead work with increased distractions 🐾 Link multiple exercises together to build attention span 🐾 Begin transitioning from hand signals to verbal commands Upon Completion: Your puppy will receive the Puppy Certificate, celebrating their progress and skills! Week-by-Week Breakdown: Week 1 – Setting the Stage for Success 🔹 Goal setting 🔹 Teaching puppies to settle using a lead under a chair leg (always remove when standing up) 🔹 Practicing lead on/off 🔹 "Stand for Examination" (preparing for vet/groomer handling) 🔹 Introducing distractions in lead training Week 2 – Strengthening Basic Commands 🔹 "Sit Stay" with distractions 🔹 Recall with distractions🔹 Transitioning from hand signals to verbal commands (starting with "Down") 🔹 Practicing "Stand" Week 3 – Advancing Stays & Recalls 🔹 "Down Stay" with increased duration 🔹 Formal recall with stay 🔹 Introducing "Retrieve" Week 4 – Manners & Socialisation 🔹 Preventing & managing jumping up 🔹 Teaching feeding & food manners 🔹 "Dog Swap" – getting comfortable handling different dogs 🔹 Strengthening "Retrieve" 🔹 Continuing to improve stays Week 5 – Preparing for the Final Test 🔹 "Heel Off Lead" 🔹 Reviewing all learned exercises 🔹 Teaching door manners 🔹 Demonstration & practice for final assessment Week 6 – Graduation Day! 🔹 Final test 🔹 Awarding of Puppy Certificates Continue Your Puppy’s Success!
